What is Lockdown Fitness?

Exercise is a great way to fill some time and boost your mood during lockdown, not only will your body get fitter, the endorphins released during exercise are shown to have a positive affect on mental health. This is our 6 week program combining different routines to give you an overall body workout. You can follow through, mix and match, do your favourites or use them however you want! These workouts are all designed so you don’t need much space, equipment or experience, ideal for doing in the comfort of your own room.

Week 1 :

A basic beginner’s overall body workout to get your blood pumping and those endorphins flowing.

Week 2:

Cara's Introduction to Yoga

Our first Yoga routine from week 2 of our lockdown fitness at YMCA Basingstoke, create a calm area for yourself and enjoy this short workout perfect for beginners.

Make sure to stretch before and after, stay hydrated, and stop if you feel lightheaded or dizzy.

Week 3:

This week we have another core workout with some new moves and a few weights added in, you could use cans, bottles of water, anything that is a comfortable weight for you but is still using those muscles.

Week 4:

This week Cara created a second yoga routine, make sure you have a calm, serene space and follow along to calm your body and mind.

Week 5:

For week five we all got involved for the Zumba workout, Cara will show you the moves so you can follow along with the team. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you just need to move your body and have fun! And once you’ve broken a sweat, enjoy the outtakes and behind the scenes of our shoot.

Week 5 and the whole team got involved with our lockdown fitness! Cara created a short beginners Zumba workout, although it still about an hour to learn…behind the scenes video coming soon.

For our final week BoundaryLakes personal training has created us a HIIT workout to really get the blood pumping!

For week 6 of our lockdown fitness at YMCA Basingstoke, Tom Stubbington of Boundarylakes personal training has kindly created us a HIIT workout; a high intensity interval workout perfect to get the blood pumping and those positive endorphins flowing.
